Earth has always had major issues this one included but the general public has had their memory wiped and the clock has been rewound so that they wouldn't have to worry about the earth exploding at anymoment.(The memory erasing goes away after seeing something impossible the magical veiw usually covers this.)
And now some of the biggest events in Origin Earth's Histroy Starting with the Kaiju era.
Gojira, as he is known, is no mere mortal dinosaur. There's something in those eyes of his...a fire that burns like a volcano, tempered by the cold malice of a tsunami, that speaks of something overworldly.
He may have taken my parents from me, but I feel no hatred towards the monster. People are simply ants to him, something either beneath his notice or the subject of his contempt. And strangely...I find myself thinking that perhaps we are not so underserving...has man not overstepped his boundaries, time and time again, simply for the sake of money, power and the blood of our enemies?
Godzilla may be here to punish us...I'm not a very religious man, but in an age where gods walk the earth, I can't help but feel like we are close to our own deliverance..."
GODZILLA is considered the most powerful animal on the planet, due to the incredible amount of raw energy contained in his body, not to mention his ferocious nature. "The King of the Monsters," as he is nicknamed, has time and again eluded the efforts of the JSDF, G-Force and the EDF (Earth Defense Force), proving to be nearly indestructible against almost any and all weaponry created by man.
There have been a total of 4 "Gojirans" known to science: the First, which appeared on Oto Island in 1954 and subsequently attacked Tokyo (later reduced to a skeleton by the Oxygen Destroyer compound created by the late Dr. Serizawa). The Second appeared less than a year after, and battled Anguirus in Osaka. This Godzilla has come to be the most well-known of the Gojirasaurus maximus family (this creature perished in Tokyo in 1995). The third Godzilla, and some say the final, was born on Solgell Island in 1975, and "inherited" the role of "Monster King" from his surrogate father. The Fourth monster was "born from the anger of the First, the power of the Second, the flesh of the Third, and made whole again by the Sin of Man," (quote - The Shobijin).
The EDF have declared Godzilla to be a "walking disaster," and also issued an official statement from the United Nations that Godzilla is only to be dealt with by the EDF, and only when absolutely necessary, due to the colossal loss of life that entails an enraged Gojiran.
ANGUIRUS is the rottweiler of daikaiju. He is tenacious, powerful, fast and fearless. And yet, he is at his most content when simply grazing on trees in the forests of Hokkaido.
Nevertheless, Anguirus is a species of a hitherto unknown type of ankylosauridae dubbed "Angilasaurus," and the animals were supposedly fiercely territorial with Gojirasaurs in the late Cretaceous, maintaining a healthy rivarly with the predators not unlike that between Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops.
Despite the intense animosity between the two beasts when first meeting, Angurius's defeat at Godzilla's claws seems to have forged something that could only be understood by the mind of a monster: a kind of kaiju-loyalty. Anguirus is quick to jump to Godzilla's aid, even when he doesn't really need it.
Godzilla, in turn, has never turned his aggression on his shorter ally since their epic battle in Osaka.
Anguirus is vastly larger than any other specimen of his species, yet he does not seem to be a mutation (strangely, not unlike Rodan), as little to no radiation has been detected on him. However this came to be is an absolute mystery.
Anguirus's scar on his left eye is a testemant to Godzilla's might, which he will never forget. But if what the Shobijin say is true, it is not fear that rules the ankylosaur's spirit....it is respect. RODAN is the last remaining pterosaur on the planet. The flying monster's species has been theorized as one which inhabited the collosal island chain in the south pacific 65 million years ago, along with Gojirasaurs and Angilasaurs. Yet, like Anguirus, Rodan is so much more massive than any other member of his species, yet there is no indication as to how he became so enormous.
Rodan is a largely solitary kaiju, as he doesn't seem to share any sort of bond with Godzilla or Anguirus. True, the three have been seen fighting alongside each other, but Rodan is usually the first to leave. This could very well be because the current Rodan is the survivor of three Rodans who appeared in the late 50's, he being their son. As a result, this behavior indicates that Rodans are solitary animals until they find mates, but Rodan has detached himself from the rest of the kaiju to the opposite extreme of Godzilla's and Angurius's relationship.
Rodan is no friend of humankind, though he is not particularly aggressive. That is to say, he's happy just staying away from people and eating fish and whales in the open ocean. Granted, the original pair that appeared in 1956 immediatelly began killing people and ravaged Fukuoka, but this was largely territorial, and the two assumed their home to have been invaded. When the younger Rodan discovered how wide-spread humans were, he simply decided to leave.
Rodan values his freedom above all else. Any attempts to capture the monster have been met with extreme aggression. As such, the EDF has issued a "no-fly-zone" around any area that Rodan currently roosts.
NOTE: It is important to consider that Rodan has an INTENSE aggression towards Meganula-spawn. He does not simply eat them...he ensures that an entire radius of them is wiped clean. It should be noted that Megaguirus provides the most even match of air-born prowess to Rodan's own. MOTHRA is considered by many to be just another kaiju, marked for either destruction or capture, but an equal amount see the giant insect as something much, MUCH more...
She is renowned as being something of a benevolent creature, as 1961 could be considered the first and only time Mothra made an all-out, aggressive march across Japan, cocooning herself on Tokyo Tower and transforming from Larval stage to Imago stage, where those on the ground described her rebirth as "like some otherworldly angel rising above we shameful creatures". Other times, Mothra has appeared to fend off more violent kaiju, not the least of which being Godzilla himself.
Interestingly, Mothra seems to have taken a particular interest in the mutant dinosaur, and one would even go so far as to say she sees a sense of responsibility for the monster, as the Shobijin once implied.
Mothra is obviously more intelligent than most kaiju, to which no human can comprehend. The Shobijin, who have become something between celebrities and diplomats, state that "Mothra is as old as rock and as young as flowers, and her wisdom knows no bounds." What this means exactly is debatable.
Mothra has been revered as nothing less than "The Goddess of Peace," and after her appearence, a group of both Rolisicans and Japanese gathered and established the "Children of Mothra" in 1966. Since then, it has been declared an official religion in Japan, England, Australia, France, California and New York, and severely illegal in most of the United States and the Middle East.
Mothra is the Yin to the Yang of the dreaded Battra. At the tail end of World War 2, a mysterious cargo was shipped from Germany to its allies in Japan, labled with all sorts of bad mojo, including a few Christian crosses etched on to the steel container. When the scientists at a laboratory in Hiroshima opened the box, their eyes were alight with both awe and a small measure of fear.
There, floating in a tub of nutrient-enriched water, was the immortal heart of the re-animated creature created by Victor FRANKENSTEIN during the Industrial Revolution. The laboratory had intended to run tests on the immortal heart to discover its unholy secrets, yet, that fateful day, the atom bomb was dropped on the city of Hiroshima, and the laboratory demolished.
Many years later, a strange creature is spotted roaming the countryside near the reconstructed Hiroshima, and the public takes to calling it the "Japanese Bigfoot." A team of researchers venture into the forests and capture the creature, discovering it to resemble a badly deformed boy, covered in hair and odd growths, who cowers in fear of them. Befriended by the gentle Sueko Togami, the boy is taken to a clinic, and after many days of research and information gathering, it was theorized that the boy was a Hiroshima survivor, and during his search for any kind of sustinance he could find, must have discovered the heart of Frankenstein's creation. Devouring it, the tissue, mutated by radiation, made him into a mutant as well.
The world went to hell one day during an accident involving the press, and "Frankenstein" broke out of the clinic, and ran into the woods. Angry, hurt from his severed hand during the escape, and in pain from his mutation, the boy began to devour more and more food - plants, animals, everything except people, and growing stronger with each meal.
Unfortunately, Dr. Yuzo Kawaji, a somewhat untrustworthy scientist who worked with Dr. Togami and Dr. Bowen, was obsessed to see what could be done with Frankenstein's regenerative tissue. Since he was partly responsible for the monster's escape, Kawaji, in a fit of emotion, fed the severed hand to some lab rats who were being tested with radiation. Unfortunately, and stupidly for him, he didn't anticipate the rodents becoming DEUTALIOS! Kawaji escaped, desperate to find Sueko and Bowen and tell them of what happened.
Soon enough, Frankenstein's former caretakers found him to try and convince him to leave Japan, but the giant rats had followed Kawaji, and attacked!
Frankenstein bravely fought off the enormous rodents, and suffered savage wounds for it. The military attempted to settle the matter, but in the process, the forest caught ablaze. Frankenstein defeated the rats one-by-one, and even saved his foster-parents by carrying them to safety.
The Man-Monster then turned towards the sea, his flesh burned, his body bleeding, and walked out into the cold embrace of the water. A noble creature...a noble man...he sank beneath the waves...
...of course, Frankenstein's monster can never truly die...
(Excerpt from "Legend of the Yamato Guardians")
-"One of the first Spawn of Orochi, the Earth Beast Baragon set about to devour the people of Yamato. Blinded by rage and bloodlust, the creature seemed unstoppable, yet the Priests of Yamato intervened before many lives were lost. At first, the valiant holy ones tried to set the beast into slumber using all the sake they could conjure, but this merely made the beast more reckless and destructive. So, the priests had a new idea: seeing Baragon's mighty appetite, they intended to make him so full that he would drift to sleep from both food and drink. Ordering a thousand bowls of rice be made, they presented the feast to Baragon, who gourged himself until he seemed like he would pop. The craftiest of the priests, however, had tricked Baragon. She had mixed dust from the wings of Mothra into the rice, and the monster fell fast asleep. The priests then purified his spirit, squelching his rage, and cast him into a deep slumber..."
Baragon wouldn't appear again until 2004, when he arose to battle a new foe...
(from Legend of the Yamato Guardians) -
"The Sea God MANDA ruled the ocean with the rage that made her a Spawn of Orochi, and created chaos that impressed even Susano'o. In particular danger was the nation of Mu, though the Empress refused to send her armies to fight Manda, for fear that she was indeed the Dragon God incarnate, and that the people had done some evil to anger the serpent.
Nevertheless, the Priests of Yamato appeared to stop Manda. The kindests of the priests had stuck upon an idea, and went to a beach shore to call on an old friend of his. A small turtle came ashore and conversed with the kindly priest, and he asked of his friend to find something within the sea to quell Manda's rage.
Three days passed, and the turtle returned to the beach, dragging with him a colossal pearl of such beauty that the priest was rendered speechless. He presented the pearl to the Queen of Mu, and, taken aback by the gentle priest, offerred the pearl to Manda. As soon as the dragon's eyes fell upon the pearl, her rage was squelched, and she became the guardian of Mu, as long as the pearl was in the nation's protection."
Manda would be reawoken many years later to fight against an incredibly vicious foe...
The final scroll of the "Legend of the Yamato Guardians" has never been properly translated, due to damage to the original text, but it can be said that the writings identify the "Sky Demon VARAN" as "the most fearful of the Guardians," and "one of Orochi's most vicious children." It was also written that the Yamato Priests never seemed to succesfully contain Varan's raging spirit, and it took an alliance of the priests and "the mountain people" to trap and subdue the monster (likely ancestors of the Ainu).
Of course, Varan arose once more in 2004, along with Baragon and Manda, to battle a mighty foe indeed.
On the tiny Letchi Island, one of the many in the South Pacific, the most dangerous terrorist organization in the world, the Red Bamboo, had spent years steadily building an army, complete with nuclear-grade weaponry, no less. However, one of their most dangerous weapons was a horrific daikaiju they had named EBIRAH. Though no records exist of Ebirah's true origin, it was suggested that he was dragged from the deep trenches of the sea by the Red Bamboo's subs, or perhaps it was a subject of mutation-oriented experiments. Regardless, the monster was apparently "owned" by the Red Bamboo, as indicated by the huge emblems painted onto its exoskeleton, and thus the terrorists had somehow managed to keep Ebirah from leaving the island.
However, little did the Red Bamboo realise that their nuclear plant had attracted none other than GODZILLA, where he made a temporary home in an underwater cavern beneath the island. It was the Monster King, as well as the efforts of a small group of shipwrecked Japanese, that proved to be the potential threat's undoing.
Ebirah proved to be a solid challenge for Godzilla, as the dinosaur's blows landed on an amazingly tough carapace. Of course, a mighty blast of atomic heat sent the crustacean into quick retreat, and Godzilla eventually defeated Ebirah by dismemberment.
However, after the destruction of the island and the Bamboo base, Ebirah disappeared until well into the late 90's, when another creature (though possible the same) appeared near Tahiti. It was subsequently captured and coralled onto the Monster Island facility at Ogasawara.
NOTE: It has been theorized that Ebirah was a giant species of lobster native to the deep oceanic ecosystem discovered in 1973, referred to as the Sub-Pacific Biosphere. The biosphere consists of several interconnected air pockets, rich in oxygen, hydrogen, and other gases that make up a life-supporting atmosphere. Ebirah's species, along with Titanosaurs and other giant species, evolved to gigantic proportions while protected from the drastic climactic changes that ravaged the above-sea planet. When Faroe Island was being studied in the 1960’s, Dr. Makino and his team discovered a strange stone slab, almost 10 feet high, deep in the island’s jungle. Surrounded by what may have once been a temple, the Slab was covered in ancient runes and hieroglyphics of an unknown dialect (though similar ruins were later found in the deeper jungles of Ogasawara). On the Slab, there was a clear story being told: 4 gods once ruled this island, they being a giant beast-man, a reptile with long legs, a spiked four-legged monster, and a huge spider. They were depicted being “born” from the Slab when it fell from the stars, and the four monsters fought for dominance over the island. It wasn’t until the beast-man was appealed to by the people that he began to dominate the other 3, dispelling them to the far corners of the world - the spiked one to the north and the spider to the south. Only the leaping monster remained nearby, cast into the sea, and once the ancients built a special resonating chamber around the Slab, the reptile slept beneath the island, while the beast-man slept in the mountain within the island.
Mr. Tako, Dr. Makino’s investor, knew that the Slab would be a great scientific find and gain excellent publicity for Public Pharmaceuticals, even moreso than the soma berries, so he ordered the thing moved; something Makino advised heavily against.
Still, the damn rock was moved, and even the inch or two that it was shifted, and the mountain quaked, and KING KONG was released! After accidentally smashing the Slab, he began moving towards the village in search of soma, when a giant reptile burst from the surf…it was a massive dinosaur, easily as big as Godzilla, but with a freakish pair of powerful-looking legs...it was later named GOROSAURUS WATSONI, after Susan Watson, a member of the research team and the first person to encounter the monster. When Susan’s screams brought the rest of the team to the beach, it also brought the attention of Kong, who saved Susan from the jaws of Gorosaurus. The two titans rammed one-another, and battled ferociously until Kong nearly broke Gorosaurus’s jaw. Then, grasping the monster by the tail, he swung it far out beyond the beach, where, it was assumed, that the dinosaur decided against pursuing Kong.
After Anguirus freed Godzilla from his icy prison, Kong and the mutant saurian battled one-another in their historic bout at Mt. Fuji. Meanwhile, Gorosaurus, with no reason to return to Faroe Island, disappeared until the late 90’s, where he was discovered on Mondo Island, only a few hundred miles from Faroe. The dinosaur was considerably mellowed, but still aggressive towards humans. Still, he was rallied to Monster Island, where he was comfortable for a good while…until the Kilaak Invasion, of course. Moving silently through the void, there are untold horrors that hail from time and space not our own. The small space-capsule, the Helios 7, was forced down into the atmosphere of the Pacific ocean, where its unwelcomed cargo set about a dark work...
When a small crew of journalists and scientists returned from the nearby Selga Island, they recounted a horrific story, which told of nightmarish monsters destroying the small island. Indeed, the island was destroyed by volcanic activity, but the survivors were nearly driven to madness, some chattering nonsensical jibberish, while others simply seemed as though nothing affected them emotionally or physically anymore.
All of the accounts varied, but this mysterious being, calling itself "Yog," remained one that several witnesses recounted:
"...only a congeries of iridescent globes, yet stupendous in its malign suggestiveness."
Another creature, this one consisten with ALL of the stories, was dubbed "Gezora," from a local legend, was described as some sort of colossal squid or cuttlefish that nearly tore the island apart.
Even in a time when giant cephalopods are not so uncommon, there's little hard evidence to support Gezora's existence. Nevertheless, during several of G-Force's patrols and Godzilla-study expeditions, gigantic tentacles have indeed been found floating not far from small islands in the pacific, larger than any Oodako's.
Indeed, whatever happened on that island must have been simply too much for the human mind to bear in its tiny realm of reality, and if Gezora does indeed exist, then pray that it never seeks to attack Japan... Of all the atrocities that humankind as a whole is responsible for, there is little more horrific than the careless discarding of waste materials that no animal, plant, or any other lifeform on our little blue planet can re-utilize, and as a result, pollution is slowly but ever-so-surely strangling Earth to death.
It goes without saying that, under the right circumstances, an amalgamation of the pure destructive wickedness that is pollution would rise from its own muck, and utilize Man's true sin against it. HEDORAH was such a creature.
The first appearence of the monster was chalked up to many sightings of boat-sized, tadpole-shaped beasts, which eventually made their way to the garbage-choked waters surrounding Japan, amalgamated into one giant, formless blob of a monster and slithered its way onto land, hunting for the awful pollutants spilling out of factories and the waste pouring out of cities to feed itself. In its most "natural" form, Hedorah hardly attempts to maintain a solid shape, but its unique physical structure allows its to re-configure itself, using whatever intelligence works in that disgusting body, into a new form in order to combat whatever obstacle lies in its path.
The only creature to ever fight Hedorah and emerge victorious was none other than Godzilla, King of the Monsters, and even such a mighty beast was nearly felled by the Smog Monster, after being smothered, choked, burned, beaten and maimed. Indeed, Godzilla hates Hedorah above all other monsters, and even after the creature's apparent death, there's no ruling out the possibility of another's existence.
Hedorah's origin is a complete and total mystery, as it seems impossible that such an animal could even exist, even if it was extraterrestrial. However, it makes a strange sort of sense to think that, should the planet become totally polluted and devoid of natural life, then creatures like Hedorah would actually flourish, which leads one to believe....could Hedorah be the next logical step in evolution?
NOTE: It seems as though hopes were dashed all too soon, as unconfirmed reports indicate that somewhere near Argentina, a new, similar kaiju has been sighted, with the name "Deathla" being thrown around G-FORCE HQ... GIGAN is renowned throughout the galaxy as the pinnacle of monster elimination technology. If his younger brother MEGALON is the demolisher, GIGAN is the assassin, and he wears the title with pride.
There's no record of exactly when Gigan was built, other than that of the insectoid aliens of Nebula Space Hunter M, and even their own records are spotty at best. While the Nebulans do indeed control Gigan and send him on whatever mission of bloodshed they so deem, there is no evidence to support that they themselves created the cyborg. Gigan's inner workings and horrifically beautiful mesh of synthetic allows, circuitry and organic flesh may be just too far beyond the grasp of the somewhat technologically challenged sentient cockroaches. It has been theorized even that Gigan was a creation of a race that preceded the Nebulans, and they simply "inherited" it (if their story of their home planet is to be believed).
While the gigantic cyborg does indeed answer to the Nebulans, he does seem to have a conciousness and sentience of his own...it would almost seem as though he tolerates the Nebulans rather than being subservient to them. This is indicated by the cockroaches' tendency to act as though they control him, yet almost bend their plans around Gigan's actions.
Godzilla and Gigan share a relationship based on rivalry rather than aggression, and while the two are perfectly willing to beat each other to death, there's an air of respect that each has for the other.
Megalon isn't as smart or as efficient as his older sibling, yet Gigan seems to maintain a cool set of circuits when dealing with the simple yet effective hailstorm of destruction that Megalon rains down on whatever pitiable civilization incurs the beasts' wrath.
Though chased from Earth by Godzilla and Anguirus, Gigan returned in during Operation: Final War, upgraded and ready to carry out a new set of wicked plans... MEGALON is a perfect example of the sort of "Kaiju For Hire" system created by the Nebulans (or their predeccesors), in that, some unseen time in the past, they had sent the cyborg kaiju to the as yet legendary kingdom of Seatopia in order to aid in their invasion of the surface.
Megalon is not a terribly bright kaiju, and that's being generous. The giant beetle-like creature is a later creation than Gigan, yet he is by no means an improvement, rather a step in a different direction. Megalon mostly follows whatever orders are given to him, and carries out mass destruction where needed. He doesn't seem capable of planned combat or the sort of "honor" that Gigan practices, yet point him in the right direction, and everything in a 50 to 70 mile radius will be flattened, burned, pulverized, or any combination thereof.
Megalon seems lost without something guiding his actions, and will either wander about aimlessly or flail about insanely until he tires his circuits out. Nevertheless, Megalon is never to be underestimated, as his capability grows exponentially when Gigan appears on the scene, as he is given new direction and focus by his older brother.
The giant beetle-god engaged in battle with Godzilla and Anguirus alongside his brother in the newly constructed Children's Land theme-park outside of Tokyo. While the two beasts put up a fearsome offensive, the Earth kaiju managed to gain an upper claw through the help of a handful of humans and the robot Jet Jaguar. Megalon had since disappeared beneath the Earth, trying to find his way back to Seatopia.
NOTE: It is interesting to consider that Megalon resembles a god in Seatopian religion, and High Priest Antonio used both the monster and his alliance with the Nebulans to coerce the populace of Seatopia to gain a quick rise to power and launch an attack on humanity's civilization. Goro Ibuki, a brilliant technician, computer scientist and part-time inventor, had made some enemies in his lifetime. Enemies that he cared not to speak about to his nephew, Rokuro, or his best friend, Hiroshi. Nevertheless, he knew it would bode disaster to simply ignore the impending threats that would occassionally reach his ears. So, he dove headfirst into a project that had been swirling about in his head for the last several years, being a little project called "JET JAGUAR."
Goro had always been a mysterious one, largely keeping to himself, his only visitors being his best friend and little nephew. He knew, however, that because he had such social contacts, such people that were dear to him, they would be targets for whatever threat breathed down his neck. Thus, Jet Jaguar was his crowning achievement as a scientist; a human-sized machine, though easily 6 feet tall, was powerful and constructed to be nearly unbeatable by average human means. When asked how he could create something so advanced, Goro would avoid the subject or use some colorful euphamism to gloss over the fact that Jet Jaguar's design was only about half his own, while the other half was something more advanced....more alien...
Rokuro loved the TV series "Zone Fighter," to the point of idol worship. As a result, Goro designed Jet Jaguar in such a way that it would mimic the colorful heroes on television, and hopefully embody the courage and ideology they represented. Rokuro immediately treated Jet Jaguar like a metallic foster father, and "JJ," in kind, treated Rokuro with special consideration, if only because Goro had programmed the robot for such. JJ was Goro's bodyguard, rather than simply a playmate, and it was the advent of the Nebulan invasion that the robot's true purpose would come to bear. Jet Jaguar was, at first, sought out as a weapon to be stolen by mysterious men claiming to be "Seatopians," but Goro regained control, and the machine was able to plow through an entire attack squadron of Nebulan soldiers, becoming instrumental in allowing Godzilla, Anguirus and the JSDF to defeat Gigan, Megalon and the Nebulans. Appearing from an erupting Mt. Fuji, roaring in an inexplicable rage, Godzilla rampaged down the countryside and began to assault any settlement or town in his path. Finally, the rampaging titan attacked an oil refinery, razing the entire facility into a blaze of ruin. Illuminated by the hellish blaze, Godzilla was stopped in his tracks by noneother than....Godzilla?!
The two saurians, almost totally identical, began a savage battle. Something bizarre began to happen, though; each time the second Godzilla landed a sharp blow on his adversary, the first Godzilla would warp and shift momentarily. Finally, the second monster proved who was real and who was the fraud with a solid blast of atomic fire, dispelling the hologram, and rendering the imposter for his true nature: a magnificent machine of death, destruction and beautiful, brutal force, MECHA-GODZILLA had made itself known to the world.
With cunning efficiency, Mecha-Godzilla unleashed a hailstorm of lasers and missles that rendered Godzilla nearly powerless in its onslaught. Soundly defeating the monster king came with a price, however, as the mechanized beast's creators, the Simeons (a warrior-race from a system being quickly enveloped by a black hole), had miscalculated the strength of Godzilla's heat ray, and Mecha-Godzilla's head controls were damaged.
The real battle would come at a later date, of course, when Mecha-Godzilla would engage not only Godzilla, but the ancient monster King Caesar, in battle.
Though maintaining an incredible offensive and a marked defensive, MG was eventually defeated, and its head ripped from its body, thanks to Godzilla's newly-acquired magnetic powers.
However, MG was far from beaten. While the Simeon forces on Earth were beaten, a greater force amassed itself from the still-dieing homeworld, and MechaGodzilla was eventually repaired, and this time, to counter the strength of both Godzilla and King Caesar, a new contender was added to the fray..... Since time before time, KING CAESAR (a crude romanization of his true name, "King Shisa") has sat ever-watchful, ever vigilant to protect the tiny island of Okinawa from impending threats. Of course, an ancient ritual must be enacted, and he must only be awoken "when the red moon sets, and the sun rises in the west."
The Simeons were wise to an apparent attempt to ressurect the ancient guardian, but they scarcely believed in such primitive beliefs. Nevertheless, another monster would be a decided thorn in their side, so they attached a small group with limited resources to prevent the statue's arrival in Okinawa from mainland Japan. Of course, the statue made it (through INTERPOL's interference) and the mighty Shisa was brought back to life to battle alongside Godzilla against MechaGodzilla, and again later against Titanosaurus.
Little is known of King Caesar's biology, except that the creature is supposedly made largely of mineral constructs. In short, it is a living statue. Caesar himself seems a very wise and noble kaiju, and, interestingly, he is the only monster that Godzilla will seemingly look up to and even respect. There had even been scattered eye-witness accounts of Caesar "training" Godzilla, teaching the giant saurian in such a way that an elderly martial artist would teach a younger pupil, before the final battle against the Simeon forces.
NOTE - The recently uncovered scrolls deep within Seatopian vaults (after Antonio's overthrow) has revealed some startling facts: it may very well be a human spirit that inhabits the body of the mighty Shisa! Details are still sketchy, but it very well may have something to do with the battle between the stone god and his allies MANDA and MOTHRA against the legendary AXOR and his mind-controlled forces.
For all intents and purposes, Mecha-Godzilla was the perfect fighting machine....but only against one monster. The combined efforts of Godzilla and King Caesar had defeated the magnificent mechanical construct, so it made logical sense to even the playing field, as the Simeon reinforcements saw fit. Of course, the space apes were not terribly adept at mind-control technology, and their warlike nature prevented any alliances with other races in the solar system. So, they sought out a disgruntled scientist, Dr. Mafune, and after saving his daughter Katsura's life through advanced robotics (as was the race's forte', he swore loyalty to them.
Dr. Mafune was the best ally availible for the Simeons because he had achieved that which, to that day, no human had achieved yet: control over a daikaiju. Thus, Dr. Mafune brought to the world TITANOSAURUS, a collosal spinosaurid from the Sub Oceanic Biosphere, and the only supposed surviving member of its species.
Titanosaurus is controlled largely through hyper-sonic sound waves, of which are only perceptible to certain species of animals. It was the right combination of these soundwaves that allowed Mafune's computer to override Titanosaurus's higher brain functions and turn him into a ferociously aggressive fighter.
The rebuilt MechaGodzilla and Titanosaurus launched an all-out attack on the Japanese mainland, and leveled city after city. Godzilla quickly intervened, but was beaten within an inch of his life but the tag-team titans.
Only with the intervention of INTERPOL and the re-awakening of King Caesar was Titanosaurus freed of his mind control and Godzilla able to soundly defeat MechaGodzilla once and for all, and the Simeons were harshly driven from Earth. Titanosaurus, however, was greatly wounded in the battle, as at its end, INTERPOL was able to free the dinosaur from his servitude, and King Caesar convinced him to fight alongside himself and Godzilla. When MechaGodzilla unleashed its final, deadliest laser-cannon, Titanosaurus took the full force of the blast that was intended for Godzilla, and the noble creature fell off of a high cliff and into the ocean, where he would disappear until the late 1990's.
Titanosaurus, or another like him, was eventually found and coralled at the Monster Island facility at Ogasawara. Gabara is every jerk you ever knew...if he were a big, fat, wart-covered cross between a cat and a frog (which isn't much of a stretch).
He's every muscle-headed jerkwad who ever called you a dork for liking Godzilla, and as such, he has a special penchant for picking on "Minilla" if he can ever find the little monster alone on Kaiju Island.
Minilla has an unfortunate habit of wandering off by himself, being naturally curious, and Gabara takes full advantage of this by electricuting (his special power), berating and beating the younger monster (never to death, because then he'd have nobody to bully).
The only reason Godzilla himself hasn't vaporized Gabara is because he feels that his surrogate son needs to be able to defend himself, and one day, Minilla did just that.
Finding the courage to both stand up to Gabara, as well as outsmart him, the young monster flipped Gabara off of the end of a giant log, clear into the air and over the jungle.
Godzilla congratulated his young protoge'....until Gabara pulled the ultimate desperation move and chomped Godzilla's leg!
That did it. Godzilla and Gabara began to fight viciously, and even when Minilla tried to intervene, Godzilla pushed him back from the fray. He was going to teach this punk a lesson himself!
After beating and blasting Gabara into submission, Godzilla grabbed the monster as he attempted to flee, and hurled him several hundred yards, crashing into the jungle! Gabara arose, bruised and battered, and scrambled into the interior of the island.
He made sure not to toy with either saurians again.
(DISCLAIMER: The EDF and G Force have never confirmed nor endorsed the fictional work of manga writer Ichiro Miki, and have repeatedly had to delete the "Gabara" entry from their Monster Database. There are also no other known young Gojirans with the exception of Godzilla Junior known to history). We as a race are a remarkable evolutionary milestone, in that we humans are capable of molding our environment to suit our needs, and also constantly be creating new and improved methods to conquer and control the world around us.
This progress comes at a price, however, as with new technology comes the danger of the unpredictable and the unknown. BIOLLANTE is such an unknown, and of such an unpredictability that she is beyond our present understanding of just what man has wrought.
Created from an amalgamation of Godzilla's Organizer G1, a rose's DNA, the blood of a kind-hearted girl, and the desperation of her mourning father, the myriad of influences lead to such a beast as Biollante. Initially, Dr. Shiragami was brought before G-Force with the hope of using Godzilla's DNA to create the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria with hopes of defeating him once and for all...but Shiragami's disheveled mind had other plans. Seeking to keep some part of his late daughter alive, he had already mixed her DNA with that of her favorite flower; yet when a simple accident threatened to take her away from him yet again, he took the job only so that he could keep her cells alive forever...
The ambition of a madman, tempered only by his undieing love.
Biollante's psyche is apparently a coin-toss: one side is the gentle spirit of Erika Shiragami, who seeks to protect her father and bring serenity to the world, the other is an instinctual beast, who lashes out at a cruel and unsympathetic reality.
First appearing as a colossal rose, she called out to sympathetic spirits, be they anywhere in the world, Erika herself desperate and confused in her newly reincarnated form.
Of course...the only creature to respond was Godzilla himself.
Seeking out this new creature, so like himself, Godzilla was agog at this giant mutation. Erika's mind went into overdrive, and the instinct to attack kicked in. Godzilla defeated her in this form, however...but she returned later, in a new and further evolved form, now more Godzilla than Erika.
Biollante and Godzilla fought to a standstill, and the giant saurian retreated due to being weakened by the ANEB, whereas the plant monster, burned and wounded by Godzilla's raw power, dissolved into the most amazing cloud of ethereal flowers and glowing life-force, Erika's smiling face the last thing seen by Shiragami....before.... To every Yin there is a Yang. To ever Light there is a Shadow. To every gentle beast, there is a savage one, and that is BATTRA to his sister, MOTHRA.
Battra the Black-Hearted was born the same day as the benevolent goddess, thus he is a guardian of the planet as well. Strong, fast, and all but merciless, to invoke Battra's wrath is to invite swift and utter destruction. The dark moth's blazing red eyes fix upon anything that may threaten the Earth's serenity, even moreso than Mothra, who herself is much more merciful and understanding. Of course, in Battra's compound eyes, this is weakness. Still, the line is constantly blurred between the natures of the two kaiju, as while Mothra is a peaceful goddess, she will barely hesitate to jump to the defense of her twin attendants, the Shobijin, and has nearly leveled both Tokyo and New Kirk City in search of them. Battra, while fierce and destructive towards sentient life, has shown to become surprisingly caring and gentle at the most rare of events.
Battra's egg was discovered on Adnoa Island in the Bering Sea in 1992, when an expedition was launched to discern the effects of a meteorite that had crashed near the island. Seeing the egg as an potential business venture to save their face in the wake of environmentalism, the Marutomo Company began to transport it back to Japan. Halfway there, however, GODZILLA appeared! Whether or not he intended to destroy or simply investigate the black and red egg, Mothra would have none of it. Her larvae arrived and tried to hold Godzilla off, but the egg hatched anyway, and Battra was reborn! The year is 1993, and the place is Solgell Island. A small team of scientists and laborers had set up a base on the sweltering jungle of an island, and were proceeding with the hopefully fruitful task of created a weather-control device. It was the hope against hope that the experiments would yield a way to eventually turn the great wastelands of the world into vast graineries in order to combat the ever-shrinking food supply and ever-growing human population.
Unfortunately, something went terribly wrong.
The weather balloon's remote control was jammed by a bizarre, high-frequency signal from somewhere in the island interior, and the balloon detonated too early, and while it spread the nutrient-enriching compound over the island, it also spread the radioactive catalyst which created an "atomic storm" that ravaged the island and nearly wiped out the base.
After the storm, the team decided to survey the island and note the vast increase in size of the local flora and fauna (including a species of giant mantis). Eventually, it was discovered that the high-frequency noice emitted from a large egg in the center of the island, and the egg was under attack by the "Gimantis," and their matriarch, KAMACURAS. Thankfully for the quickly hatching newborn, GODZILLA appeared from the sea, responding to the infant's call for aid.
GODZILLA JR. has had a complex and dramatic life. Growing quickly thanks to its mutating DNA, Junior re-appeared in 1994, and by that time he was almost 1/3 of Godzilla's size. The young monster was once very timid, even friendly towards humans, going so far as to eat out of one's hands (and he ate a LOT). But by the time of his surrogate father's death in 1995, he was every bit as aggressive and introvertive as Godzilla, earning his own right to the title as "King of the Monsters."
Junior was cared for by Godzilla II, though it is a well-known fact that both creatures were male. In nature, a mature male will chase off, even kill a younger member of its species and sex to prevent future competition for mating rights, but Godzilla II's fatherly role in Junior's development has been a remarkable one to science, though it is unclear as to whether this behavior is natural of the Gojirasaurus maximus species, or a result of the monster's own genetic mutation.
That said, Godzilla Jr., or "Godzilla III," later became aggressive to his foster parent, and vice-versa, in the mid-1990's, due to his own maturation and desire for his own territory. Nevertheless, Godzilla II came to his son's aid in 1994, during the incident that would be instrumental in changing Godzilla Jr. for the rest of his life...(and no, not Destoroyah's attack..)
G Force is in a bit of a pickle when it comes to Jr. For years, debate raged as to whether the creature should be captured and studied, or outright destroyed while he was still young and vulnerable (to prevent having to deal with another Godzilla...but envoking the father's wrath...) With the Weather Control Device's malfunction, an energizing catalyst washed over the island, which supercharged the nutients in the soil and biomass. The result was the already bizarre native flora and fauna of Solgell Island grew to immense proportions, not the least of which being a man-sized species of insect, dubbed "Gimantis." Already inexplicably large, the mantis-like creatures balooned to 30 meters in height each. Even more terrifying was their matriach, a huge beast later to be dubbed KAMACURAS.
Fast, fearsome and aggressive, Kamacuras puts her smaller brethren to shame. Not at all squeamish about devouring other Gimantids (even when it's not mating season) other giant insects will do well to stay out of her way. The only creature on Solgell that Kamacuras fears is a certain colossal spider...not to mention a mutant dinosaur.
Kamacuras is far from foolhardy, however, as seeing three other Gimantids obliterated by GODZILLA, she beat a hasty retreat. True, Kamacuras could have held her own against the Monster King, but that atomic breath begs to be the deciding factor.
Kamacuras was later captured and coralled on Monster Island. The TRUE queen of Solgell Island was no reptile or insect, but a shadow that dwelled in a deep chasm in the center of the island...a great arachnid of incredible size and aggressive power...KUMONGA.
Theorized to be a mutation of an ancient, prehistoric species of spider, Kumonga is likely the last of her kind, and is theorized to be female as well, which would account for both her territorial nature and the likelyhood that she killed and devoured all other members of her species on the island (there's evidence to reinforce the presence of more giant arachnids that once inhabited the island).
Kumonga's error, of course, was seeking to make a meal of the young GODZILLA JUNIOR, and incited the wrath of GODZILLA himself. Through a combination of the rapidly dropping temperature and the firepower of both Godzilla and Junior, Kumonga was forced into retreat, and burrowed into the snow in order to sooth her burned exoskeleton.
Kumonga would not reappear until towards the end of the century when she was discovered in the jungles of New Guinea, and promptly coralled by G Force to Monster Island. In 1994, Project M finally reached completion after decades of study and construction. MOGUERA was hoped against hope itself that the colossal machine would put an end to the threat of Godzilla, as well as be the steel knight to guard the nation (and later perhaps the world) against the onslaught of all kaiju.
Built from reverse-engineered alien technology, MOGUERA is, at its most basic, a giant tank with incredible maneuverability. Acting on giant treads and a swivilling torso, the mecha can charge in any direction, while still able to attack in any other. Heavy armor makes it somewhat cumbersome, yet a series of oversized jet-engines allow for limited flight capability.
Project M recieved its first marching orders when yet another meteorite was making its way towards Earth at an uncomfortable speed. Reports of a NASA space station being ripped apart forced the project into high speed.
Meanwhile, attempts at Birth Island were being made to push "Project T" foreward, which would target and control the mighty GODZILLA. After Solgell Island froze over, the kaiju king and his ward, GODZILLA JR. made their home on the small island. Of course, MOGUERA would soon have its mechanical hands full when a powerful enemy would arrive from deep space... Poor, pitiable Earth. Always is this small blue planet under the assault of war, pollution, mutations, and, more often than not, extraterrestrial invasion. In the blistering summer of 1994, a huge meteoric object, made completely of a crystalized energy of an unknown source blasted through a NASA space shuttle, and alarmingly diverted its course towards Earth. The EDF activated its newly created planetary-defense systems (missle-mounted satellites), but alas, no avail. The object emitted waves of psionic energy which destroyed the missles and disabled the satellites.
Birth Island, the Pacific. Akira Yuki, a former Major and considered somewhat "disheveled," ran a small encampment which was intended to study the mighty GODZILLA for "Project T." Using psychic energy and a carefully-aimed amplifier, it was hoped that the Psychic Research Institute's top student, Miki Saegusa, would be able to direct the kaiju's actions away from human contact. Naturally, Miki was reluctant on the idea. She had always argued that Godzilla should simply be left alone, but her desire to see both man and monster co-exist peacefully won out. Yuki, however, wanted the King dead. He agreed to help command the project, but if something went awry, he was intent on calling in G Force's mighty new weapon, the Mobile Operation Godzilla Universal Expert Robot Aero-type (MOGUERA) to destroy the monster.
Godzilla wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. GODZILLA JUNIOR was happily living on the island, and was frequently visited by his foster-father, who often came bearing a giant squid or dead whale for the young monster to eat.
However, these peaceful days were short-lived. Striking the center of the island, Junior approached the mysterious object. Reacting to his presence, it bloomed into a flower-like protrusion of a crystal entity, and ensnared the young creature in waves of energy. Screeching for his father, Junior was encased in the crystal.
Godzilla came roaring out of the water, and charged inland, but not before Yuki put the psychic transmitter squarely in the back of the monster's neck. Godzilla arrived, but only too late, as the crystal entity levitated and sped off through the sky, deflecting Godzilla's atomic breath blasts. Howling with rage, the beast stormed back towards the water, and followed.
MOGUERA was made ready, and Yuki and Miki were, reluctantly, put together in the cockpit, in hopes to both defeat the space creature and control Godzilla. The entity landed in Fukuoka and claimed the city's prized tower as its base. Causing dozens of crystals to erupt all around the city, the city center was converted into a fortress for the being, with Junior trapped at the center....and it waited...
Godzilla came ashore in Kagoshima Bay and made his way directly inland, intent on defeating the space being, while MOGUERA arrived in Fukuoka first. Assaulting the crystal towers, MOGUERA intended to blast its way straight through to the center, but was repeatedly repelled by the energy waves. It was only when Godzilla arrived that the crystals receded....there, between the two titans of Earth and the imprisoned Junior, was SPACE GODZILLA. The crystal entity had taken Junior's DNA and crafted itself a new body, and the beast howled like a god of war, intent on demolishing its foes.
After a long, hard battle, the three titans were all the worse for wear. It was discovered, luckily, that Space Godzilla was utilizing Fukuoka Tower as a conduit for his cosmic energies, and Miki used her telepathy to convey a plan to Godzilla through the trasmitter in his neck: MOGUERA will distract Space Godzilla, and Godzilla will destroy the tower.
After blasting through the defensive shields of crystals, Godzilla decimated the tower, and near it, rediscovered his stolen child. Unfortunately, Space Godzilla, in a maddened rage, fired hundreds of giant crystal shards which stabbed and penetrated Godzilla's hide, severely weakening the monster king. Focusing its fury on the weakened Godzilla, Space G intended to destroy the beast...until Junior stepped in to defend his father, blasting Space G directly in the face. MOGUERA, in using the opportunity, used its Spiral Grenade Missiles to destroy Space G's huge shoulder-crystals. After ramming its tail through MOGUERA, Space G successfully rendered the robot incapacitated. His energy core going haywire, Space Godzilla intended to take his enemies, and all of Fukuoka, out with him.
A black hole, a rip in the space/time continuum, opened over the city, and with Space Godzilla's energy was making it wider. Soon enough, all of Fukuoka, and perhaps the world, would have been sucked through.
Fortunately, at the last minute, Godzilla grabbed his energy core and absorbed the energy into his own body, and then blasted Space Godzilla into the black hole himself. "If hell got up and walked around..."
- A concerned citizen
The alien power which flowed through SPACE GODZILLA's body had all but been absorbed into GODZILLA's form. Alarmingly, his G-Cells were not healing his wounds as quickly as they should have. It was as though a dark virus had infected the beast's body.
A year later, the Pearl of the Orient, Hong Kong, was struck by a living mass of hellfire and rage...BURNING GODZILLA.
G-Force was blindsided by this development, as Godzilla had never attacked so viciously and indiscriminately. His power has grown exponentially, his aggression has tripled amazingly, and his vengeance will be had upon the world, even if it meant his Nuclear Heart would implode upon itself, creating a tiny sun that would engulf the planet's core itself, BURNING THE WORLD.
However, there's another creature who had been waiting for a moment such as this for more than 40 years... DESTOROYAH's origin is tied to Godzilla in an uncomfortable way: in 1954, when Dr. Serizawa made his noble sacrifice to eliminate the threat of at least ONE Godzilla, he activated for the first and only time (outside his laboratory) the Oxygen Destroyer. Serizawa destroyed his notes and all known compounds of the OD...nevertheless, it seems as though the very thing Serizawa feared has come to bear...in the form of a monster that may very well be even WORSE than Godzilla.
In 1995, Professor Fukazawa had been making leaps and bounds into the study of what he called "Micro Oxygen," a new way to compound and condense oxygen molecules for a variety of purposes. Too few, however, saw the taboo that he was a hair's bredth from committing, for the JSDF took the official stance that they had killed Godzilla outside of Tokyo Bay all those years ago, and few knew of Serizawa's sacrifice to this day (the Japanese government took the credit for two reasons: 1 - to keep other countries from seeking out Dr. Serizawa's secrets, and 2 - to make Godzilla's defeat their first real victory since after WWII).
When conducting some small-level experiments in Tokyo Bay, however, Fukazawa had no idea that he was providing the final catalyst in the birth of something horrific; laying dormant beneath the bay, tiny crustaceans with the ability to cheat death many times over since the Precambrian age, absorbed the oxygen-destroying properties of Serizawa's original compound, awoke and began multiplying. The Micro-Oxygen, however, gave them the ability to move on LAND, and aggregate and compound their own bodies with each other to form larger, more powerful forms!
When the Destoroyah crustaceans (Aercaedo horridus, or "Horrible Air-killer") first appeared, they took over a water treatment facility next to the bay, and dozens of man-sized beasts attacked civilians and JSDF strike teams. Eventually, with Dr. Fukuzawa's help, a freezing compound resembling the Gotengo's own freeze-cannon (shown to render micro-oxygen inert) was utilized to turn the tide against the beasts...however, the kaiju proved far more difficult to kill than anticipated...they continued to assemble and aggregate into two new, huge monsters: Flying Destoroyah and Aggregate Destoroyah. Laying waste to the small number of JSDF troops, the creatures rampaged until intercepted by GODZILLA JUNIOR, now much more mature, and while he was badly injured, he managed to throw both monsters into an exploding petrochemical plant, and left to re-join his father.
Of course, the unthinkable happened: Destoroyah's lesser parts became a greater whole, as the adult, Final Form Destoroyah. The hellish beast proves more than a match for Junior, and BURNING GODZILLA, a blazing mountain of fire and rage, would make the creature PAY. In the bleary summer of 1998, thunderous footsteps shook the streets of New York City, and a shrieking roar shattered windows. Buildings were smashed, landmarks pulverized, fish trucks....eaten?
Headlines blared "GODZILLA TAKES A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE!," "KING OF THE MONSTERS IN NYC!," and vendors lined the streets selling shirts declaring "Godzilla Was Here!" and photographs were taken in the massive footprints left in the monster's wake.
Of course, within days, it was all too obvious that Godzilla had NOT attacked New York, had NOT dug tunnels throughout the city, laid 100 eggs in Madison Square Garden, or died from 6 Tomahawk missles on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was instead a beast later known as "Zilla," or "Godzilla In Name Only" by the Kaiju Zoological and Enthusiast community, had chosen the metropolis as a place to lay its eggs and find food (WHY is subject to question). Despite the fact that the King of the Monsters had NOT died at the hands of the US Airforce, they sure liked to believe he did, and the announcements to the contrary were severely downplayed in the media.
Regardless, Biologist Nick Tatopolous knew that there was a very, VERY good chance that not all of the creature's eggs were destroyed in the blast that obliterated the nest. Leading a small search party, Nick discovered a lone egg. Hatching and imprinting on the scientist, "Zilla Jr," as it came to be nicknamed, began to follow Nick with incredible loyalty and intelligence, proving itself to be not only an efficient and agile fighter, but a benevolent kaiju at that.
The real question remained, however, as to where the original came from. That answer came in the form of Phillip Roche, and his protege', Monique Dupre. Part of a French Special Forces sector, the two were charged by their superiors to "clean up a mess" left from a series of experiments conducted in French Polynesia, were 5 "G-Cell Mutations" had escaped after a catastrophic accident (it is believed that S.C.A.L.E., a pro-kaiju rights organization/eco terrorist cell, was involved in these events). Nick Tatopolous, forming the H.E.A.T. team, hunted down all the remaining mutations, with Zilla's help, of course.
After a particularly traumatic event in Alaska, Zilla was later taken to Monster Island, where he would spend the remainder of his life...MOST of it, anyway... A mass of shambling genetic frik-afrak, ORGA is, quite literally, the first and last of his kind. Millions of years ago, after Ghidorah's cataclysmic visit to Earth, the Millenians, a race of "DNA Architects" were searching for a new world full of genetic wonderlands to frolic through. After some....rather unsavory events, the aliens were forced to congregate their collective "Genetic Memory" into their massive starship, which lay resting at the bottom of the sea for eons...
Until winter of 1999. CCI, a splinter faction of the EDF, found and raised the encrusted ship to the surface. Upon absorbing massive amounts of solar radiation, the UFO re-activated, and began immediately scanning every life form it could find...until it found Godzilla. The monster's G-Cells were surely like a beacon to the Millenian conciousness, and they attempted to subdue the daikaiju. Of course, Godzilla responded to their Concission Wave with his Atomic Breath, and the two found a stalemate. Drained of power, the ship eventually made its way to Shinjuku, where it began to research the human race. Of course, its progress was cut short by CCI, and subsequently, Godzilla himself. After burying the Kaiju Emperor, the ship began to extract the monster's genetic material, and, in a glorious folly, combined it with their own. The result was Orga.
Vicious but posessing a remarkable intelligence, its desire to completely absorb Godzilla's DNA was a necessity to stabalize its mutation. Naturally, it tried to overwhelm the King, jumping out of a pile of rubble and capturing Godzilla. Growing larger and more Gojiran, it wasn't until CCI's intervention (thanks to Yuji Shinoda), that Godzilla was able to get the upper-claw over Orga, and destroy him from within.
Shinoda's Godzilla Prediction Network now has official G-Force support, but remains an independent organization.
Needless to say, CCI has been disbanded.
