History/Affiliation: As much as he can remember of his early years of childhood, Kawakami was a slave, bought and sold by slave traders. He was forced to work, was beaten, and humiliated. However, on one such trading expedition, the traders decided to kill him for being of "Poor use as a slave", as the killing blow descended he heard a ringing of steel meeting steel. A lone samurai had come to his rescue, stopping the blade at the last minute, then the samurai fought and slue his tormentors with ease. After that the samurai took him in, and in time, began to train him in the art of swordsmanship. It was clear that Kawakami was skilled, and that he would become the next master of the style, however. The boy, in his arrogance, ran away to join in the revolution that would lead to the Meiji Era. In that time he was recognized as a Battōsai ("Master of Sword drawing") and as a Hitokiri (人斬り?, literally "Manslayer"). In fact, he was considered the most deadly of the Four Great Assassin's. He relies on fast swordsmanship and Battojutsu to defeat his opponents. After the revolution he regretted his killing ways and has searched out a way to repent ever since. Now, though, he was somehow flung into the future and into a different world, where he joined with Alesha's crew.
