Say he is fighting someone who focuses mainly on magic. He will start by taking small amounts of theirs and using it to negate anything they throw at him. As his opponent starts to weaken Sorin will start to drain more to be able to start lashing back. Once the foe has finally lost enough of their confidence and or power Sorin takes everything from them. Then he will either kill them or if he thinks they are useful corrupts them to become part of his every growing organization.

A powerful mage who has been around the universes for hundreds of years but few know of him. He controls his organization from the shadows rarely surfacing to do things himself. He is constantly traveling looking for either a great treasure or a great foe. Only very few people know who he really is and all but one of them work for him now.
